Discovery Cottage was a fun and cozy place to stay, perfect for a party people like me. The three bathrooms were super convenient, each with its own shower and hairdryer. No waiting in line for the loo!
Personally, I found the decor a bit outdated. But hey, maybe some people dig that retro vibe!

We stayed at Discovery Cottage for a weekend getaway and loved it! The photos on the website accurately portrayed the beautiful and well-decorated cottage. It was comfortable, organized, and had all the amenities we needed. We particularly enjoyed the balcony with its relaxing woodland view. The cottage's layout was perfect for our group, with three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The open-plan kitchen/diner/lounge area was spacious and great for socializing. The location was quiet and secluded, but still within walking distance to Sandsend and a short drive to other coastal towns.
Can recommend this hotel.

I truly enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The decorations were simply lovely, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The general areas of the hotel were well-organized and beautifully furnished. Additionally, as a senior woman, I found the hotel to be easily accessible, allowing me to navigate comfortably and freely.
The only improvement I would suggest for a better vacation experience for senior people is if the hotel provided additional assistance or support for those with mobility issues.

Discovery Cottage provided a comfortable and well-organized stay. the property is beautifully decorated and offers a relaxing view of the woodland from its balcony. the cottage is equipped with all the necessary amenities, and the three bathrooms were a thoughtful addition. the open plan layout of the kitchen/diner/lounge created a fantastic social space for our group. The location was peaceful, yet conveniently close to Sandsend and the main coast road, making it easy to explore the surrounding areas. Cons: Nothing bad to say 😊.

As a frequent traveler, I have stayed in numerous hotels, and Discovery Cottage definitely stands out. the excellent location of the property made it a convenient option for my transit stay. Being only 65 km away from the nearest airport, it provided seamless accessibility. the facilities at Discovery Cottage were impressive. From comfortable and well-equipped rooms to impeccable amenities, everything was carefully designed to ensure a pleasant experience for guests.
I must mention one petty gripe I had during my stay at Discovery Cottage: the cleanliness. Although it didn't significantly impact our overall experience, I couldn't help but notice cobwebs behind curtains, windows sills, and corners.

I absolutely loved the beautiful decoration at the cottage. It created a warm and cozy atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The general areas were well-maintained and provided a comfortable place to relax and socialize. Moreover, I greatly appreciated the accessibility of the hotel for senior people like myself. The layout of the cottage was designed with consideration for mobility, allowing me to navigate easily and enjoy my stay without any issues.
The only thing I would ask for to make the vacation even better for senior people is more assistance from the staff. It would be helpful if the children working there could provide some extra support and guidance to us older guests.

Discovery Cottage is situated in a beautiful setting, with easy access to nearby Sandsend and the main coast road for Whitby or Staithes. The cottage offers a lovely layout, with each bedroom having its own bathroom, providing convenience and privacy for guests. The kitchen/diner/lounge area is spacious and serves as a fantastic social space. Additionally, the cottage provides parking on-site and an outside patio area to enjoy the natural surroundings.
Some aspects of the cleanliness could be improved, with a few cobwebs found behind curtains and in corners.

Loved having access to a patio, free parking and WiFi. The nearest airport felt like it was miles away. Captain Cook Memorial Museum and Flamingo Land Theme Park were practically next door. The holiday home had plenty of towels, which I totally needed.
Oh, their towels were just fabulous, not at all like wrapping yourself in sandpaper. Just perfect.

Loved the fact that we could see photos of the property beforehand and that it was comfortable and well organized. the cottage had a great balcony with a relaxing view of the surrounding woodland. the property was also well-equipped and had a nice open plan layout, making it easy for everyone to be included while preparing and eating meals. We particularly enjoyed the big comfy sofa and seating for all.
One downer was that the accessibility was not well thought out, especially for those with mobility issues. the pathways and grounds were excessively hilly and difficult to navigate.
